Georgia's Education Tax Credit Program
The program began in 2008 and, to date, has seen more than $1 Billion contributed to this worthy cause.
Participants are simply redirecting where their state income taxes go and who gets the benefit of their hard-earned money.
Georgia tax payers and businesses contribute to the Alyn Scholarship Fund by pre-paying a portion of their state income tax liability and, in return, receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit for the total amount of the contribution. So, when a married couple contributes $5,000 to ASF, the state income taxes they owe is reduced by that exact same amount.
There's no cost to contribute!
Contributing to this program does not take extra money out of someone's pocket as it's just the money they're required to paid in taxes anyway. But, by pre-paying a portion of these taxes and contributing them to ASF, a participant's money can be used to support students at a GA private school of the their choosing; like Cornerstone Christian Academy.
Through the Education Tax Credit Program, SSOs use contributions to award scholarships to students who meet the program's eligibility requirements. Over the past twelve years, this program has helped tens of thousands of students all across Georgia attend the private school of their choice.
It's important to note that while participants can determine which school(s) they wish to support with their contribution, they cannot, in any way, determine or designate who specifically receives a scholarship or the dollar amount of scholarships.
This is not a Quid Pro Quo. Contributing has no bearing on a student's scholarship eligibility or the scholarship amount awarded.
